Amphi Clothing Bank
This is an all-volunteer program that provides quality used clothing, shoes and household items free of charge to Amphi students in need and their families. Each family can visit the Closing Bank once each academic quarter. During the 2007-2008 school year, the program served 752 families and distributed more than 41,000 items.
The Clothing Bank needs volunteers to help sort, wash, iron and stock clothes. Please call Johnnie Thews at 520-690-0075 for more information.
MathPLUS+ Tutoring
The program, which involved more than 100 volunteer tutors, began a few year ago through the Saddlebrooke Community Services and become affiliated with the Amphi Foundation in 2008. MatchPLUS+ involves computer-aided tutoring that is integrated with match teaching in the classroom and is aligned to state standards. This personalized approach to match tutoring has impressive results with the number of students achieving the "exceeds" level on the AIMS test increasing each year.
Athletic Fee Waivers
These are available for eligible students in the district's middle and high schools who wish to participate in interscholastic athletics but are unable to afford the fee. This program is funded by a generous grant from the Tucson Conquistadores. More than 1000 students are allowed to participate in athletic programs as a result of the fee waivers.
Marion Triem Education Scholarship
Named in honor of Marion Triem, a retired Amphi teach and long-time member of the Foundation Board, these scholarships are awarded to three graduating seniors, one from each of the school district's three high schools, who plan to pursue careers in education.
