Volunteer MathPLUS+ Tutors Help Improve Math Scores

The MathPLUS+ program, begun through Saddlebrooke Community Services, became affiliated with the Amphi Foundation in 2008 and now counts involves more than 100 volunteer tutors.

MathPLUS+ integrates computer-aided tutoring with classroom instruction. This personalized approach to math tutoring has resulted in annual increases in the number of students who achieve “exceeds” scores on the AIMS test.

Academic Competitions Challenge Students' Potential

Amphitheater Public School District encourages students to participate in a variety of academic team competitions to challenge their knowledge and proficiency in math, science, social sciences, and the arts.

The Amphi Foundation rewards academic achievement, team spirit, and competition by helping to underwrite travel expenses for those students whose teams will compete in academic competitions at the regional or national level.

In 2010, Prince Elementary School's Odyssey of the Mind team, pictured left, went all the way to the World Finals. We helped them get there, but they did the work.

Tucson Conquistadors Fund Athletic Fee Waivers

Funding from the Tucson Conquistadors---$14,200 in the 2009 - 2010 school year--has enabled Amphitheater's Interscholastics Department to waive athletic fees for Amphi middle and high school students in need.

Over the years, the Conquistadors' generosity has made it possible for hundreds of student athletes to participate in sports, and allowed schools to extend their program offerings and purchase uniforms and safety equipment.
